The Pro Tunnel has been delivered to it's new owner, Jeff Larson. Here it gets transformed from construction project to racing boat.
It's nice to have lots of help
Ah, nothing like a coat of paint to bring it all together.
But they weren't done yet.
Here's a boat that should stand out among the rest of the class, hopefully out in front -- although I intend to be nipping at his heels in the Pro Vee.
Getting started on the setup.
A peak into the "engine room."
After only about ten minutes test time, the Pro Tunnel is ready for its first race, in Detroit Lakes, MN
For the first heat Jeff was busy figuring out just how best to drive the boat. For heat #2 he lined up in the pole position and took off like a shot, grabbing the lead with a wide margin.
But it was not to be. It appears a stringer broke first, followed by a crack in the plywood which caught the water which ripped open the sponson. Clearly some re-engineering has to be applied here.
But that was only a temporary setback. Here the Pro Tunnel is giving the Pro Vee the business....
